A few words about me
After my BSc in Applied psychology, I studied Clinical Neuropsychology (MSc, University of Groningen) but then decided I wanted a more 'philosophical' rather than 'neuro' insight to our science. That is why I followed up with an MA in Philosophy of the Cognitive Science. Now, I am completing my 4 year training in existential psychotherapy and I practice a style of therapy which is philosophically informed but also applied practically. By "practically", I mean in the "here and now", focusing on the bodily and affective experiences, and less in the childhood or subconscious processes that other approaches tend to focus on.
I consider myself a mental health advocate. I facilitate my work with compassion, authenticity, respect and acceptance, while I prefer not to generalize across clients, and attempt to develop a special “approach” for each one of them.
My approach
We are thrown into the world and have to accept the non-negotiable givens of our existence. But the hand we are born with is the hand we have to play. Let's work together to explore what that means for you.
With a background in neuropsychology, philosophy of mind, and existential psychotherapy, my practice strives to redefine and enhance mental health. My interest in the field goes beyond the traditional ways of describing, defining, and analyzing the human mind, and I prioritize addressing and suggesting different ways of doing so. Mental health is not reduced to brain health, and my practice is informed by these values. My approach focuses on the therapeutic relationship, the here and now, mindfulness, authenticity, as well as my psychotherapeutic toolbox which is constantly enriched to include methods that I have carefully picked throughout my therapy journey.
