"My journey to become a Psychologist at the Antiloneliness Project has taken many turns. Formerly, I was a Chartered Forensic Psychologist in the UK, and moved to The Netherlands over six years ago. I completed my second Masters degree in Clinical Psychology (with distinction) from the University of Leiden in May 2019.
I have always had a keen interest in psychology; why we behave in certain ways, what makes us different, what influences our thinking and emotions, and what can be done to help others. I like to use a range of different methods with clients such as cognitive behavioural techniques and schema-related approaches. I have particular interest in working with expectant mothers and mothers as this is can be a time of personal transition with new challenges (and rewards). Being an expat myself, I can relate to the challenges that individuals may face when living in a different country, therefore I am keen to help and support others who find themselves in this situation."

Rositsa Stoycheva

Psychologist

Area of expertise: trauma, grief, domestic violence, expat life, anxiety, depression, loneliness

"In the last four years I have devoted my time working as a counseling psychologist in the Netherlands and Bulgaria, where I originally come from.
During my master studies in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leiden, I followed a clinical practice internship focused on counseling expats living in the Netherlands. Following this experience, I worked in Bulgaria, where I specialized in the treatment of survivors of trauma - adults, children, and their families.
Now I am glad to join the AntiLoneliness project and start a new chapter.
My approach to therapy is humanistic and grounded, while my main objective is to help people find security and stability within themselves despite their circumstances."

Foteini (Faye) Kanaloupiti

Psychologist

Area of expertise: eating disorders, sexual identity, LGBTQ, expat life, anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness

"You can look in the mirror and you can find a million things that you do not like about yourself. Or you can feel good and blessed. Someone told me: “Therapists are like mirrors, they always reflect people’s thoughts and feelings.” This is the way that I feel about being a therapist.
My goal is to reflect and guide people in need towards change and self-growth.

I was always charmed by human mind and behavior and this is the reason why being a therapist was a conscious choice that I made.
I graduated from Groningen University on 2017 and I am specialized in Clinical Psychology (Leiden University, Master of Science). I first met Vassia Sarantopoulou as my supervisor within my clinical internship. AntiLoneliness intrigued a great interest in me, as I find its mission -our mission- the ultimate goal for a psychotherapist: help people stay connected, be supported and reach a balanced state between mind and heart.
From now on, I consider this mission as one of my personal and professional goals.
Among my interests are various issues concerning LGBTQ community, sex therapy, and trauma.
Lastly, I keep expanding my knowledge by being trained in new approaches, studying and being updated by research and having Vassia as a mentor through a new professional and personal path of my life."

Pete Martin

Social Media/ Marketing Manager

Area of expertise: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, marketing campaigns

"I left the UK and moved to The Netherlands in 2017 and enjoying every moment of the expat life. I have a degree in English Literature, a masters degree in Museums & Galleries and a keen interest in mental health awareness.
I have over ten years of experience in digital marketing and social media, specialising in charities, nonprofits and anyone wanting to make the world a better place. So, I am proud to have joined the AntiLoneliness team."

Mylene Costa

"Being a psychologist has been a personal life-long goal of mine. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University.

I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the human mind and as a result, my interest as a psychologist intern lies within all forms of distress that an individual can endure. This interest ranges from trauma, depression, LGBTQ+ related topics, gender topics, schizophrenia, phobias, acculturative stress, grief, anxiety, suicidality and more.  I want to assist my clients to feel balanced, understood, less alone, to enhance their relationships and quality of life such as by teaching coping strategies. I strongly believe that there is a place for all individuals in this world and my work reflects this view."

Robert Carr

"Originally from Ireland, I have come to the Netherlands to expand my growing knowledge of psychology and counselling, and take the next steps in my career as a future psychologist.
Currently a Masters student of Clinical Psychology at Leiden University, I am in the process of developing and moulding myself as a therapist. Having been introduced to, and trained in, different therapeutic techniques throughout my Masters programme and I am now excited to be working with AntiLoneliness, where I have the opportunity to apply my new skills in helping others and changing lives. My experience at AntiLoneliness will provide me an invaluable experience in which I and focus on learning and implementing a variety of therapeutic styles, with the ultimate goal of giving solace to those who need it."
